LOKEME Portable Closet Assembly Instructions

The short answer

A LOKEME portable closet goes together without tools: steel tubes push into plastic connectors, fabric shelves drop onto the frame and the cover zips over it. Every part is marked or numbered and a paper manual comes in the box. The steps below are the general order for a tube-and-connector closet; follow the numbers in your own manual where they differ. Allow half an hour to an hour, and a second pair of hands for the cover.

Know your model

Before you start

• Empty the box onto a rug or a clear floor and sort the tubes by their number or length. Same-looking tubes can differ by a few centimetres.
• Count the connectors against the parts list; the listings say spares are included, so put those aside.
• Build it where it will stand — a finished closet is awkward to move through a doorway.

Step by step

1. Base frame. Join the shortest tubes into the bottom rectangle with the corner connectors. Push each tube fully home until it stops.
2. First uprights. Fit the upright tubes into the corner connectors, then the next ring of connectors that carries the first shelf.
3. Shelf levels. Repeat the ring of horizontal tubes and connectors for each shelf level, working up. Check the frame is square after each level.
4. Top frame and hanging rods. Build the top rectangle, then fit the hanging rods across it — three on most models, four on the wider open closet, five on the 82-inch closet.
5. Shelves. Drop the fabric shelf pads onto their frames, or slide in the baskets on the open closet.
6. Cover. On covered models, lower the cover over the top, pull it down evenly on all sides, then zip it and fasten the Velcro. The open closet has no cover.
7. Side bags. Hook the side storage bags or pockets on, where your model has them.

Replacement parts and the manual

The listings say LOKEME includes spare connectors so a lost or cracked one does not stop the build. We found no LOKEME listing for spare tubes, covers or connectors on their own, and no downloadable manual. If you have lost the manual or a part, message the seller from your Amazon order — the store is LOKEME-USDirect.

Choosing the spot

Measure before you build. The covered closets need their full width plus a little room at each end to reach the zip; the LOKEME Wardrobe Closet with 19 mm Steel Frame is 51.7 × 18.2 × 70.6 in, so check it clears a skirting board, a radiator and the swing of a door. Stand it on a hard, level floor — on thick carpet the feet sink unevenly and the frame leans.

Moving it or taking it apart

Empty it first. To move it across a room, lift from the lowest frame tubes with a second person, not by the cover or the hanging rods. To move house, take it apart in reverse order — cover, shelves, rods, top frame, then the levels — and bag the connectors so none go missing. The numbers on the tubes make the second build quicker than the first.

Looking after it

Keep the heaviest folded clothes on the lowest shelves and spread coats along the rails rather than bunching them in the middle. The listings do not give a weight limit, so do not use the shelves for books or boxes. Unzip the cover now and then to air the clothes, and wipe the fabric rather than washing it. To move the closet, empty it first; the frame is built for standing, not for carrying loaded.
